Why he gave his daughter to the lord (hareh for haraye)?
Though Satrajit was a respectful devotee of the sun god, the sun god was very affectionate to him, like a friend.
The citizens did not recognize that Satrajit was present( na upalaksitah), but mistook him for the sun god.
They caught the attention of the Lord, who was absorbed in a dice game, by chanting his names.
He is blinding our eyes with his network of rays (gabhasti cakrena).
"You should not say that the sun god wants to see me, a mere mortal."
"Indeed (nanu) the best of the devatas search for you and today the sun god (ajah) has come to see you.
Four yavas equels one gunja. Five gunjas equal one pana. Eight panas equal one dharana. Eight dharanas equal one karsa. Four karsas equal one pala. One hundred palas equals one tula. Twenty tulas equal one bhara.
There can be no untimely death (mari) where this jewel is situated.
Krsna requested the jewel for the treasury of King Ugrasena. . Satrajit refused without considering the effects of refusing the request of the Lord (yacna bhangam atakrayan), By not offering it to the supreme lord, but instead enjoying it himself, that object which could destroy all misfortunes would instead become the cause of all misfortunes. What then would be the offense if the lord requested it for himself and he did not give? Therefore he requested it for King Ugrasena.
Tying the jewel around his neck (pratimucya), his brother went hunting.
Killing Prasena, the lion took (acchidya) the jewel.
Those people who were of similar evil nature heard this and whispered about it to each other (ajapan).
Krsna saw the jewel, which had become a toy for the child.
As if out of fear of seeing a human form (bhitavat), the nurse began to cry. She was not even aware of his desire of taking the jewel. Actually, it was not real fear, for seeing the lord is naturally a cause of jubilation.
In fighting with the weak demons like Canura, Kamsa, and Jarasandha, Krsna did not get much satisfaction. In order to get full satisfaction in fighting, the lord therefore desired to fight with his own servant who had similar strength, his devotee Jambavan. As well, since his devotee Jambavan had not been fully satisfied in vira rasa by fighting with the troops of Ravana, Krsna wanted to satisfy him now. In order to fulfill both his and Jambavan's desires, he thus covered his sweet aspect from Jambavan by his lila sakti, through the power of his yoga maya. Thus Jambavan though of him as an ordinary human.
They fought like two hawks fighting for flesh.
They fought for twenty eight days (asta vimsaham), both day and night (ahanisam). They fought without even a moment's rest, with blows as hard as striking (nispesa) of thunderbolts.
His huge muscles were beaten by Krsna. He considered, who can be stronger than me except Rama? Remembering those old thoughts, with surprise, he concluded that this must be his lord.
If all the prana of all the living entities of all the billions of universes were brought together, and if all the strengths of all the senses (oja), mind (saha) and bodies (bala) were brought together, I know it all as you alone, since all of that is just your vibhuti. Thus how can your strength be countered by the strength of one entity like me? It is like Garuda being challenged by a butterfly. You are Visnu, the pervader of all, and I am a single pervaded person. You are the ancient person, and I am the young person. You are endowed with all power (prabha visnum), and I am without power. You are the controller of all(adisvaram) and I am the controlled.
You are the creator of the creators of the universe, and I am only the creation of Brahma. You are the cause of all the entities (sat) created within the universe, and Brahma and other creators of the universes are not the cause. Brahma. They are creators only n the sense of secondary creators. Of destroyers you are the destroyer (kala), capable of doing it (isa). I however am to be destroyed by the destroyer. Among all atmas you are the supreme atma. I am one jiva.
By throwing your slightly angry glance, the ocean, filled with agitated crocodiles and timilinga fish, gave you a path. You built a bridge as well, which is your very fame. You burned down Lanka and, cut off by your arrows, the heads of Ravanawhich fell to the ground. I recognise that you are that Lord.
The Lord touched Jambavan, who had personally realized (vijnata) knowledge of bhagavan (visistha jnana or vijnana), with his hand, and thus relieved his devotee of his bodily pains.
31.Many of us came to this cave for the jewel, and I have entered it (not stated but understood), in order to dispel the false rumors about me by that jewel.
He gave his daughter to Krsna along with the jewel.
With the granting of blessings "Krsna will appear soon, Krsna appeared along with his wife. Instead of "asisa sa ca"(blessing) sometimes the word asisa asava is seen in the verse. then the verse means "with the granting of blessings, Krsna who was dear as life to everyone, appeared.
At the time of giving his daughter to Krsna, Jambavan also put the jewel around the neck of Krsna (mani grivam).
Satrajit was repentent (anupayamana) for his offensive behavior.
Worried about strife with strong followers of Krsna, he began to think. His thoughts are described in two and half verses.
Let the jewel remain with you, since you are a devotee of the sun (deva bhaktasya). Since you are without a son, she is your treasure, and now that treasure is mine.
In this chapter, Krsna, getting a bad reputation, goes to find the syamantaka jewel, receives the jewel and the daughter of Jambavan, and, on returning to Dvaraka, marries the daughter of Satrajit as well. Satrajit is sometimes spelt with a on the end.
